Epson L220 scanimage -L works but don't scan

Detailed description
Hello,

I'm trying to install epson L220 all-in-one printer on my raspberry pi 2. I configure everything, and scanimage -L show my printer, but don't scan. And also I can use scanimage -L only once - after use this command, printer is not listed. I must disconnect and connect usb cable from printer again.

pi@raspberrypi:~ $ scanimage -L
device `epson2:libusb:001:004' is a Epson PID 08D1 flatbed scanner
pi@raspberrypi:~ $ scanimage >test.pnm
scanimage: no SANE devices found

I guess I'm tried every known method to figure it out, but without effect. What I'm tried:
- installing sane by apt-get
- compile sane-backends from source
- compile sane-backends from git
- of course I'v set apropriate sane backend in dll.conf and in epson2.conf
- in the mean time I reinstalled whole raspbian and start from beginning

Can anyone help me?

This device will not work with the epson2 backend. You may have better luck with the epsonds backend but it is not reported as supported.

The external utsushi backend does support it but compiling that from source requires at least 2GB of memory.
